Dr Mike Shepherd
BVSc(Massey), MRCVS

Mike graduated from Massey University in New Zealand in 1987. He subsequently worked in mixed rural practice for 2 seasons. He travelled to the UK after acting as vet on a boat to Thailand, where he was responsible for the veterinary care of cattle, horses and camels. On arrival in the UK, he worked through various locum positions before joining the Rossdales horses in training team in September 1991. He is also a member of their bloodstock sales team. Mike is a senior partner at Rossdales in Newmarket. He also completed the Dakar Rally (most people don't complete the rally, and some die!) so he is in a biking league of his own.

He also happens to be incredibly knowledgeable in musculoskeletal diseases of the racehorse.  Mike is particularly interested in lameness and diagnostic imaging. He has organised the successful BEVA Musculoskeletal Ultrasound course for a number of years (this course celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013, making it one of the longest-running equine CPD courses).
