Dr John Burford

Dr John Burford
MA, VetMB, CertVA, CertES(Soft Tissue), PhD, SFHEA, FRCVS

John qualified from Cambridge and after undertaking an internship and PhD at the Royal Veterinary College moved to the University of Liverpool to complete his surgical residency.
He has been at the University of Nottingham since 2010 where he continues to perform referral surgery for clinical associate practices of the veterinary school. John is also actively engaged in research which focuses on colic, particularly in first opinion practice, the welfare of working equids abroad and also exploring the role of digital technologies in practice and client education. John is a Specialist in Equine Surgery and is currently one of the youngest Fellows of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

His topics of interest include equine surgery and diagnostic imaging and medical statistics and evidence-based medicine.

John is one of the original members of the HP team and has done every tour. He not only produces wonderful lectures but also sorts all the IT woes in his unflappable way.

With regards motorbikes, John would much rather his bikes have a big set of knobbly tyres and are covered in mud. His first bike was a Honda CRM250 (feel free to discuss his opinions on how this was the best trail bike ever made), followed by a succession of off-road KTMs.
John now rides an ancient Kawasaki, after his last KTM blew a head gasket on an Hungarian motorway.

We would love to keep in touch with you!
