Professor Davide Zani
DVM PhD
Veterinary Faculty of Milan

Davide Zani graduated in 2001 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Milan and began his career as an equine veterinarian, working as a freelance professional until 2005. In 2006, he was awarded a doctoral scholarship at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Milan, completing it in 2009 with a thesis on the use of magnetic resonance imaging to evaluate cartilage lesions in the horse's fetlock joint. That same year, he obtained a research position at the same faculty.

Currently, Dr. Davide Zani serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences at the newly established Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Milan, located in Lodi. He leads the equine surgical clinic course, the diagnostic imaging course for equine patients, and the course on elements of podiatry and farriery within the degree program in Animal Husbandry and Welfare of Companion Animals.

From 2017 to 2025, he has been in charge of the Diagnostic Imaging Department at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Milan, which operates 24/7 and receives over 2,100 patients annually. He has authored over 80 indexed publications covering various aspects of diagnostic imaging in equine medicine, farm animals, companion animals, unconventional animals, and translational experimental medicine. His work has also been presented at numerous national and international events.

Davide has always been passionate about motorcycles—ever since, at the age of 16, he bought his first Honda 125 MTX. Today, he proudly rides a 2005 Speed Triple 1050, which his three-year-old son, Rocco, loves (though his partner, Angelica—also a veterinarian—is somewhat less enthusiastic. Nonetheless, she tolerates and supports his passion).

We would love to keep in touch with you!
